Spiritual Counselor

What would it be like to listen more deeply to your yearnings, hurts and discoveries and in the process nurture your spirit?

Sometimes we are facing a pivotal moment, staring mute into the unknown or sensing the possibility of greater depth in our lives but don't don’t know where to turn.  Having a spiritual counselor, a grown-up companion who has been on the path a good while, can make an enormous difference!

I've been on a spiritual path for half a century.  I have walked as a spiritual counselor alongside many, many good souls, troubled and untroubled, inspired and looking for inspiration.  I see my task as nourishing the life-long practice of ever increasing openness.

Together we will listen as deeply as we can.  Lstening for guidance.  Listening for the movement of spirit in your life and decisions.  Listening for what will bring greater spaciousness.

I have spent a lifetime of studing psychological and spiritual growth and have been trained and board-certified as a hospital chaplain.  But I am not a therapist.  Spiritual counseling is not therapy.  I am a deeply religious or spiritual man, but I will never proselytize.  Nor will I try to fix your problems or answer your life issues. That is for you to do.

Rather I will walk alongside you, offering my own life long struggles to connect with the Divine and the fully real.  I see my task as to walk with you, helping you perceive, question, lament, give thanks, wonder and hope. I try to ask insightful, open-ended questions that can help you tell the real, unvarnished truth and connect with your deepest self.  And I try to allow space for stillness and silence (contemplation).

However, I was also trained and certified as a meditation teacher.  If you choose I will happily teach you how to meditate or do contemplative prayer.

"Come," as the Rg Veda puts it, "let us grow together. (10:12:40)
